The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences' mission is to ensure the quality of scientific research in the Netherlands. Fundamental research carried out today will provide a basis for the applied research of tomorrow and, in turn, for the practical application of science in the future.

The Academy awards grants for research, conference visits or periods of residence abroad. They contribute to the cost of organising international conferences, workshops and colloquia in the Netherlands and promote international communication and partnerships.
